В свою очередь, сотрудники Университета Пенсильвании изучали влияние бактерий (Mobiluncus mulieris, Gardnerella vaginalis, Lactobacillus) на клетки шейки матки. Ученые обнаружили: некоторые бактерии могут изменять шейку матки беременной женщины и вызывать спонтанные преждевременные роды.
Две из трех изученных групп бактерий были связаны с преждевременными родами. Они меняли уровень экспрессии генов и подвергали шейку матки риску. Третья группа бактерий не имела отношения к преждевременным родам. Специалисты надеются, что их выводы помогут разобраться в механизме преждевременных родов.
